| "You Coded" |

Isobel Stevens finds out early in the day that the interns were all drinking the night before. To be more specific, they went to a party at George O'Malley and Lexie Grey's new apartment - a party that Izzie wasn't invited to. She confronts George about it only to find out that they're also having a dart contest at Joe's after work. George invites her out of obligation and she shortly feels better. She tries to catch on to they're new inside joke of saying "You coded," but it goes terribly flat. So here are George and Izzie trying to be friends again, but it's not working. The interns, George's new friends start backing out of the night's plans. George is trying to play both sides of the game and Izzie just can't find her place in the game. Finally the two are left to confront each other. Izzie says "I think I've been hiding in the clinic. . I lost the contest, I couldn't hack cardio, I performed CPR on a deer. . . I think I've been hiding." But she's not listening to George. He finally gets her to listen "You're not an intern anymore. . .and no one wants to hang out with their boss." The ah-ha moment comes as Izzie realizes "I'm the boss." It's not rocket science, but it's what she needed to hear to move on at that moment. She realizes that George is in a different place and that she needs to let him be there. She realizes, too, that she needs to be the stronger person she knows she can be. George admits, "You know, whenever anyone says something really funny and they laugh, and I always look around to see if you think it's funny, too. Even when you're not there I still look around." I really miss seeing these two as friends but with everything that has changed it will be hard to get there again. George is an intern still and Izzie needs to be a resident now. |
