An anxious Cristina Yang starts out the day by meeting Erica Hahn as she's walking in to the hospital. She quickly gives her the films and info she needs for the days' patient, explains that she'd like to be on the surgery because it was her patient in the clinic, and just as quickly she is totally brushed off by Dr. Hahn left with an awkward look by Callie Torres. Now I'm getting sick of Cristina sucking up and all, but really Erica is very persistent with her shut downs. She is just not willing to give an inch on this.

Cristina asks Callie for advice on how to get through to Erica Hahn. Callie tells her that "Erica is a good listener" and that she should try just talking to her. This leaves Cristina feeling quite hopeless because she doesn't "speak girl." She tries talking to her friends in the cafeteria, asking them to open up about their day and share their feelings, but her hopeless attempts don't really help. Cristina is finally able to get Callie to put in a good word for her eventually, but even if it gets her a ticket into the surgery, it doesn't earn her any points with Hahn. They are operating on a freshly born infant whose heart formed outside the body. The heart starts arresting and Cristina steps up to massage the heart. She gets the heart strong again and Dr. Hahn turns to thank Alex Karev for his quick thinking to administer the meds. Cristina looks at Hahn and is abruptly asked to move back from the table.

Dr. Mark Sloan appears to play "God" as he keeps reminding us. He grew a skin flap for the patient and is very proud of him. Besides, he tells Addison before the surgery "I'm horny! The nurses are turnin' me down." I guess feeling like he's "playing God" is as good as he's going to get for now.

Later at Joe's Cristina finally approaches Dr. Hahn who's sitting with Addison drinking and asks, "Is it because I'm Asian? Is that your problem? . . . Why won't you teach me?" Dr. Hahn tells her, "You're not without skill, you're not without talent, stop seeking my approval. . ." Cristina leaves and Addison questions, " Geez, you're a little hard on her, don't you think?" Erica shruggingly tells her, "I think she reminds me a of me." This leaves me with the question: Is that really how you would treat yourself? I guess that's not the last we'll see of these two at war. Erica doesn't seem like she's going to give in and Cristina's desperate for more experience. So what are we going to do here?
