Miranda Bailey's Trial of Faith

Miranda Bailey left her husband waiting last episode. He's getting tired of always being left waiting, so he went home without speaking to her. Now he's here the next morning and he finally brings things back up. Miranda is put off by the poor timing as she's trying to get ready for work, so she puts him off and tells him she can't talk about it. She goes to work upset by the encounter from the morning and her husband, Tucker, keeps trying to call her. She ignores the calls because it's never a good time. Finally he pages her. When she calls him back, she starts yelling at him telling him never to call unless. . . but she doesn't finish the sentence because she sees him in the E.R. with their son, Tuck, on a stretcher. You can just see the guilt pouring out of Miranda's face. It turns out that someone left the baby gate open and Tuck fell down the stairs. This throws Miranda into a whole new level of guilt as she is goes over in her mind whether she closed the gate behind her or not. It's pretty clear that Tucker blames her for forgetting the gate, and Miranda is really torn up about it. Tuck has to go into surgery with Dr. Erica Hahn, but she refuses to let Bailey in on the surgery. If looks could kill, that would have been the end of Dr. Hahn. Doesn't she know who Bailey is? Cristina Yang who is scrubbing in tells Miranda she'll hold his hand during the surgery and that seems to appease Miranda a little bit and she slowly makes her way out of the O.R. Even when offered to get in on the surgery, Cristina turns Dr. Hahn down to continue to hold Tuck's hand. This is very unlike Cristina, but it makes me excited. Maybe, just maybe, in all this battle between her and Isobel Stevens is she realizing that there may be a benefit to really caring about your patients. The surgery ends up going well, but that doesn't mean that Tuck is out of the woods yet. There is still fluid around his heart.

Meanwhile, the hospital has a patient like they've never had before. There is a woman in need of heart surgery that is a faith healer. She refuses surgery until someone can walk her through the surgery and help her visualize her self-healing methods. Alex Karev is having none of it and tells the woman he can't help her. She tells Alex he's "blocked," anyways and says that even though he was a nice boy, something bad must have happened to him because he is not a nice man. Alex eventually brings Izzie Stevens both for her surgical abilities and because he knows that if anyone in the hospital would care, she would.
While Miranda and Tucker still engage in fighting and the tension between them rises, Miranda is searching for any way possible to make her baby well. She decides to turn to the faith healing patient in the hospital to have her do whatever she can to help. The healer can tell that there is a lot of tension between the parents and asks them for the sake of their baby, to forgive each other, at least until he is able to get better. As easy as that sounds, you can just see the struggle for Tucker and Miranda to try to rise above their quarreling and blaming. I'm honestly getting kind of worried for Miranda. I worry that she doesn't really realize how close she is to losing her husband. Her son makes improvements, but it will be the end of Miranda's hardships. I really think that Tucker is going to leave her. That is going to be hard on Miranda, but at least little Tucker is going to be okay after all. I guess we just might find out what happens when someone as tough as Dr. Bailey starts having some serious personal problems of her own.
