11 "Lay Your Hands On Me"
Miranda Bailey's Trial of Faith

Miranda Bailey left her husband waiting last episode. He's getting tired of always being left waiting, so he went home without speaking to her. Now he's here the next morning and he finally brings things back up. Miranda is put off by the poor timing as she's trying to get ready for work, so she puts him off and tells him she can't talk about it. She goes to work upset by the encounter from the morning and her husband, Tucker, keeps trying to call her. She ignores the calls because it's never a good time. Finally he pages her. When she calls him back, she starts yelling at him telling him never to call unless. . . but she doesn't finish the sentence because she sees him in the E.R. with their son, Tuck, on a stretcher. You can just see the guilt pouring out of Miranda's face. It turns out that someone left the baby gate open and Tuck fell down the stairs. This throws Miranda into a whole new level of guilt as she is goes over in her mind whether she closed the gate behind her or not. It's pretty clear that Tucker blames her for forgetting the gate, and Miranda is really torn up about it. Tuck has to go into surgery with Dr. Erica Hahn, but she refuses to let Bailey in on the surgery. If looks could kill, that would have been the end of Dr. Hahn. Doesn't she know who Bailey is? Cristina Yang who is scrubbing in tells Miranda she'll hold his hand during the surgery and that seems to appease Miranda a little bit and she slowly makes her way out of the O.R. Even when offered to get in on the surgery, Cristina turns Dr. Hahn down to continue to hold Tuck's hand. This is very unlike Cristina, but it makes me excited. Maybe, just maybe, in all this battle between her and Isobel Stevens is she realizing that there may be a benefit to really caring about your patients. The surgery ends up going well, but that doesn't mean that Tuck is out of the woods yet. There is still fluid around his heart.

Meanwhile, the hospital has a patient like they've never had before. There is a woman in need of heart surgery that is a faith healer. She refuses surgery until someone can walk her through the surgery and help her visualize her self-healing methods. Alex Karev is having none of it and tells the woman he can't help her. She tells Alex he's "blocked," anyways and says that even though he was a nice boy, something bad must have happened to him because he is not a nice man. Alex eventually brings Izzie Stevens both for her surgical abilities and because he knows that if anyone in the hospital would care, she would.
While Miranda and Tucker still engage in fighting and the tension between them rises, Miranda is searching for any way possible to make her baby well. She decides to turn to the faith healing patient in the hospital to have her do whatever she can to help. The healer can tell that there is a lot of tension between the parents and asks them for the sake of their baby, to forgive each other, at least until he is able to get better. As easy as that sounds, you can just see the struggle for Tucker and Miranda to try to rise above their quarreling and blaming. I'm honestly getting kind of worried for Miranda. I worry that she doesn't really realize how close she is to losing her husband. Her son makes improvements, but it will be the end of Miranda's hardships. I really think that Tucker is going to leave her. That is going to be hard on Miranda, but at least little Tucker is going to be okay after all. I guess we just might find out what happens when someone as tough as Dr. Bailey starts having some serious personal problems of her own.

George O'Malley Forgot to Tell His Mom

mrs omalley greys

I almost died in this episode when Mrs. O'Malley showed up with clothes she's knitted for Callie and George's little one on the way. Wow! George is in a fix again. Just can't keep any of his women happy can he? Callie Torres receives a whole bag full of clothes before she tracks George down and tells him he HAS to tell his mother. . . . NOW! He works up his courage to tell her, but unfortunately Izzie Stevens got to her first and totally blew the lid off everything (insert foot in mouth). Mrs. O'Malley flips out. They're Catholic! Divorce is unacceptable! Marriage is too important! George tells her it's too late. Callie was a little more tactful, but tells George's mom she no longer believes in marriage and that she enjoyed being an "O'Malley" while she could. Still, Mrs. O'Malley can't bear to leave the hospital. George tells her that it really is over and that he's disappointed in himself. His mom wants him to move back in with her, but George says it's time he starts taking care of himself. I never really thought about that until this point, but George never really does take care of himself, he's always trying so hard to please everyone else. He always seems to do what will make other people happy. He marries Callie suddenly after his father dies I think to help him mom get over her husband's death. He tries to please Callie by trying not to be friends with Izzie anymore, since it makes her jealous. And he tries to please her by having a baby because she wants to. Then she tries to please Isobel since she has confessed her undying love for him and ends his marriage for her. I hope he's really paying attention to himself right here. He seriously needs to take care of himself and do what he needs and what he wants. When you're in a relationship because it's what you want, things go much smoother. Good luck George!

At the end of the day, George and Lexie decide to get a place together. This may be a good move for the both of them. Lexie needs to get away from her abusive father and George just can't go back to Meredith's with all his drama with Lexie. I think they could make a good friendship with eachother. We'll see how that goes.

Derek and Meredtih Over? Seriously?

merder meredith grey and derek shepard

Derek Shepard turned down a date with Rose because he says he isn't free. Then he turns around to Meredith Grey and tells her that he wants to build a house with her. Obviously, she's still not ready and admittedly that is a pretty big step to take together. Meredith dances around the question at first, but when she gets into work, she happens to hear about Derek's kiss with Rose (from George who overheard it). Now she's upset. She confronts Derek about it and he responds very nonchalantly that they were seeing other people yesterday when it happened. What girl would buy that answer? Come on! Meredith then tells Derek off about how she can't ever trust him-first he lied about being married, then this, something always seems to come up. Derek tells her that he wants to marry her, but that Meredith really can't trust any man. It's not his problem. They break it off. Is this for good? I fear it is (at least for a while). Maybe Meredith can learn to trust from someone else first, but will it be too late, then? At the end of the episode, Derek meets Rose for dinner. So sad for me, but just because she's really seems like a nice, good person and I'm worried Meredith will never have a chance again. What are we going to do?

Dr. Erica Hahn is in the Mix

dr erica hahn greys

Erica Hahn finally appears to have made a good friend in Callie Torres. After going out for drinks they realize in the elevator that they have one thing in common-a general dislike for men. As classic as it can get the elevator doors open to reveal Mark Sloan. Hahn says, "Case in point." Looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Mark Sloan is still in hot pursuit of Dr. Hahn, however and she tells him out right that she thinks he's a jerk, but then she does something truly evil-gives him back hope. After rejecting him, she admits that if they weren't working together then he might have had a chance. Erica and Callie go out for drinks and of course Sloan asks to come, but Hahn just tells him "goodbye." Sounds fishy to me. Maybe Erica Hahn isn't as disinterested in men as she claims to be, huh? I'd like to see how that plays out. I still think that Sloan is way too hot for her, though.
