Patrick Dempsey recently opened the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hoep and Healing in his hometown of Lewiston, Maine.  He was inspired by him mother, Amanda, who has survived ovarian cancer.  His goal was to have one place to go to get all the information and care you need.  It opened on Mar 31, 2008.  He says, "For a family to get a cancer diagnosis is devastatin, and all the information out there can be overwhelming, so I talked to my sister (Mary) about a place where people could go for all this type of information and help.  Knowledge is power."  His sister, Mary, who is a nurse at the Central Maine Medical Center where they opened the cancer center will be running the center.  For more information, you can visit www.dempseycenter.org.
