Patrick Dempsey was Voted one of the 100 World's Most Beutiful People 2008 by People magazine. Heres a peek at the article they included about him: "Founder of the newly opened Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing, at Central Maine Medical Center, which successfully treated his mom, Amanda, when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1997. The center, where his sister, Mary, a nurse, is the coordinator, helps patients and thier families navigate cancer treatment. 'If you can find out everything you need to know, in one place, you're not overwhelmed,' says Dempsey. Where he's proud to have his name on it, 'Celebrity in itself is not that fabulous, but if you can use it to help make change, it's great,' says the TV doctor, 42, who is currently starring in Made of Honor. A Lewiston-area native, he adds, 'Maine is part of the core of who I am, and I want to give back to that community.' The whole family turned out for the March opening. Patrick Dempsey recently opened the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hoep and Healing in his hometown of Lewiston, Maine. He was inspired by him mother, Amanda, who has survived ovarian cancer. His goal was to have one place to go to get all the information and care you need. It opened on Mar 31, 2008. He says, "For a family to get a cancer diagnosis is devastatin, and all the information out there can be overwhelming, so I talked to my sister (Mary) about a place where people could go for all this type of information and help. Knowledge is power." His sister, Mary, who is a nurse at the Central Maine Medical Center where they opened the cancer center will be running the center. Patrick Dempsey was announced the new face of Versace's spring/summer line for men in Dec. 2007. He says, "It was so lovely too work with Donatella Versace, she is an iconic and inspirational woman and a wonderful person, not to mention what a pleasure it was to work with Mario Testino, too, one of the world's finest photographers." So don't be surprised if he greets many a red carpet wearing beautiful Versace suits in the near future. Versace had this to say of Dempsey: "I'm a big fan. Patrick Dempsey and his wife had twin boys born on February 1, 2007. They are named Darby Galen and Sullivan Patrick. Patrick also has a 4-yr-old daughter, Talulah. When asked how fatherhood has changed him, he said, "Now making money is about providing for my children. And being a father makes you look at yourself. you look at you marriage and go, 'How do I improve this? How do I keep growing and create a stable environment for my children?'" Several weeks later he says his sons already have "distinct personalities." "Sullivan is very funny - he has funny expressions in the way he's taking things in - and Darby is very reserved nad quiet." Patrick seems to be enjoying fatherhood. When asked how sister, Talulah, is taking it all, he says, "Talulah is making the transition very well. . . Last week we had father-daughter time - we went and saw Wicked. We'll start doing more one-on-one trips." Patrick and wife, Jillain, met wehn Patrick came into her hair salon for a haircut in 1994. They were married in 1999. He says of her, "I hope I still make her swoon! Sometimes I think, God, would Derek Shepard do this? because I am certainly not a perfect male at this moment. Just trying to provide and communicate and let her know how beautiful and important she is to me--I think those things make her swoon." At the premeire of "Made of Honor" Patrick says the secrets to a happy marriage are, "Love, humor and communication - those are the bedrocks of a good relationship." He also says that Jillian is "immensely supportive. Without her, I wouldn't be here." He certainly seems to be living up to his McDreamy nature. He makes me swoon a little with his perfect answers. What a sweet guy.
