So the word is that Brooke Smith, who plays Erica Hahn, is fired from the show. "Brooke Smith was obviously not fired for playing a lesbian. Clearly it's not an issue, as we have a lesbian character on the show - (Sara Ramirez's) Calliope Torres," Shonda Rhimes (series creator and executive producer) says in a statement. There has been no official word on why she was fired or where it really came from, but she's being written out of the show. I for one am not too torn up about it as she just hasn't really been my favorite this season. My guess is that I'm not the only one and that her ratings just don't support her being on the show anymore. Smith, meanwhile, tells Entertainment Weekly that she believes the network forced Rhimes' hand: "It seemed like some decision came down from above. It didn't feel like it was her." Well, I for one am hoping to see Callie get more serious with Mark Sloan. We'll see how this all pans out I guess.
