T. R. Knight was born Theodore Raymond Knight on March 26, 1973 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He began acting at the Guthrie Theater at age 5. He finished high school and breifly attended college before pursuing his leading role career at Guthrie Theater. He now has been nominated for an Emmy and received a Screen Actor's Guild award for his role as George O'Malley on Grey's Anatomy.

After several rumors and accusations that he was a homosexual, T.R. had a scuffle with Isaiah Washington (also of Grey's Anatomy). Isaiah allegedly called T.R. a "faggot" and shortly after was fired from the Grey's Anatomy cast. In October of 2006 T.R. publicly announced, "I guess there have been a few questions about my sexuality, and I'd like to quiet any unnecessary rumors that there might be out there. While I prefer to keep my personal life private, I hope the fact that I'm gay isn't the most interesting part of me."

He was voted one of the Top 50 Sexiest Men Alive of 2007 by People magazine.

He is currently dating Mark Cornelson as seen in photos of he and Mark in Feb. 2008 as they attended a party of Elton John.
