Chandra Wilson was born on August 27, 1969 in Houston, Texas. She began acting at age 5 for "Theater Under the Stars." She attended the High School for Performing and Visual Arts then on to the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University where she earned her BFA in drama. She had a notable career in theater and is an accomplished singer. At the time she auditioned for Grey's Anatomy she was working at a bank. The role originally envisioned a blond caucasian woman, but Chandra won them over with an amazing audition for the part of Miranda Bailey. Since then she's been a break out hit for her role as "the Nazi" we've grown to love. She has now been nominated for two Emmys and received two Screen Actor's Guild Awards for this role. Chandra is married with three children: Serena was born in 1992, Joy was born in 1994 and Michael was born in 2005.
