Eric Dane was born on November 9, 1972 in San Francisco, California. After performing in a high school production, he decided to pursue acting. He relocated to Los Angeles for his career and had several small TV roles before signing on to Gideon's Crossing, folowed by Charmed where he had a two season run. His first feature film was "The Basket" in 1999. He was given one episode ("Yesterday") on Grey's Anatomy and a very positive audience reaction, they brought him on for Season 3. How can we ever forget his first episode of the season where he comes out wearing a very precariously placed towel.

He is also close friends with Balthazar Getty (of Alias and Brothers and Sisters). In February of 2008 there was rumor that he had cancerous skin tissue removed from above his lip.
