| About Lexie Grey |
|
Lexie Grey joined us this season as the half-sister of Meredith Grey. Lexie didn't even know Meredith existed until the last couple of years. She even picked up on Derek Shepard in a bar once, though turned down, only to realize it was because of his relationship with her half-sister. Lexie's mother came to Seattle Grace last season with the hiccups and through a series of routine fixes, died on Meredith's watch. Unable to deal with it, her father, Thatcher Grey, has been heavily drinking ever since. Lexie ended up at Seattle Grace for her internship in a last minute shuffle. She was planning to go somewhere else (far away from her half-sister), but with her mother's death was lucky to get into any place on short notice. Lexie is a smart girl and knows her stuff but seems to gets rattled easily. She really proved herself this season as she had to hold her hand in a young man's artery to keep him alive. Her attempts to have a relationship with Meredith are quite unfruitful, but as of late she's managed to get in a little. Her biggest short-coming is that she is too nice. She'll let people walk over her a lot (and even ate eggs she was allergic to just because Meredith made them.) She has already managed to sleep with Alex Karev though I don't see how they are a match and Alex forgot about her when he had to disclose all the women he's slept with on the "Sex Survey". She is a little jealous when Alex gets back together with his old patient Rebecca (aka Ava) because she had assumed they were dating exclusively. Needing to get away from her abusive father, she's moved into a "crappy" apartment with George O'Malley. She is trying to help George get "in" with the new interns while seeking the support she needs in a new hospital where she's trying to fit in. With the idea planting of George, she manages to "steal" all the residents files and thanks to a photographic memory, she remembers it all. She spills the beans on how all the residents made it where they are today. When George comes home excited on the last episode of Season 4 (because he gets to retake the exam), he plants a kiss on Lexie's lips that she will not soon forget. Lexie starts Season 5 afraid to confess her love of George. Mark Sloan realizes she has a crush and encourages her to tell him about it, but when she tries, George is quick to tell her that they are "just roommates" and best friends. She helps him study for his intern exams and is his cheerleader through it all, but when he find out that he passed the exams, he quickly returns to his place with his old friends and joins the other residents. Lexie's feelings are hurt and she is forced to accept that George just doesn't get how she likes him. After being mad, she's now willing to try to make things work - after all, they are roommates and friends. Although she doesn't get too many chances in actual surgeries, Lexie is proving to be a valuable intern. She shows a lot of promise for success. Soon Lexie finds herself a part of the interns "secret society." In a desperate attempt to get more practice, since Cristina Yang doesn't let them try anything, the interns have gone underground - in the basement. They start to practice on one another- IV's, stitches, etc. Cristina realizes what's going on after seeing the scars on the interns arms and tells them to "shut it down." The next day the interns are back at it again. This time they've given an epidural and before long, Meredith's friend Sadie has convinced them to do an actual surgery on her. They decide to do an appendectomy because no one really needs an appendix. Things don't go well, in fact, Sadie is dangerously close to dying. Lexie gets Meredith and Cristina. They call Bailey and the Chief. They are able to save Sadie, but now the interns are in serious trouble with their superiors. Trying to fill the void of being banned from the O.R., Lexie is becoming closer to Mark Sloan. He believes in her and teaches her when others seem not to care. She seeks his teaching but finds his bedroom. She shows up at his door and heats things up. What better outlet to diminish the void of surgery than sex, right? Though Mark had promised Derek to stay away from "little Grey," he cannot resist her showing up, undressing and all but begging him to. When she tries to talk to him the next day, he freaks out and tells her that he promised Derek and it has to stop. She is everywhere he is, though. She gets in on his surgeries and gives him looks. At the end of the day, he again cannot resist her - it was just too amazing. Now Lexie is trying to ease a relationship in on Mark Sloan. She's sitting with him in the cafeteria, talking to him in the halls and he's fighting it all the way. Then Derek Shepard's mom arrives at Seattle Grace. The mother who cared more for Mark than his own. She can tell that something is wrong with Mark and he admits his relationship with Lexie. She corners Lexie to make sure she's a "good girl." Of course she is. Things get complicated with the relationship because the two lovebirds appear to have had a mishap. Lexie seems to have broken "it." She goes to Callie to consult and what she first thought was a joke, is all too real. Here is the ever virile Mark Sloan, lying in bed, broken from sex gone wrong. She can't help him, so she has to get Owen Hunt to help fix him. It's not long before the interns are all talking about it, trying to guess who did it to him and how. Lexie can't take it any more and tells them to stop talking about it. It's obvious that she knows something and when they figure out that it is her and her awkward denials aren't helping her hide the secret, Sadie tells them all that it was her, not Lexie.
