| About George O'Malley |
|
What a sweet guy! The man who tries to please everyone and keep everyone happy. George is the only one of the original interns who failed his exams and is repeating his internship. Not without good reason. This nice guy's been bounced around a lot. He is best friends with Isobel Stevens even though she was "out of his league." George started out with a crush on Meredith Grey. He did eventually sleep with her once, but it was bad, very bad! For those of you who remember, no real need to recap. He finally had a great love interest with Callie Torres (who I personally really liked him with). They had a little bit of a rocky relationship, because Callie was very jealous of he and Isobel's friendship. He then found his father admitted at the hospital with heart problems and though they did everything they could, his father died. George had a really hard time coping with this and asked Callie to marry him quite abruptly. They eloped in Las Vegas and returned to life as normal. Soon after returning George discovered that Callie had kept the fact that she was an heiress to millions from him. This disrupted things a little for him as he felt a little betrayed. Callie's jealousy of Izzie had never really subsided, either. After a particularly bad argument between the newlyweds, George turned to his friend, Izzie to help him. After quite a lot of drinking, he ended up sleeping with Isobel. The next day, he didn't remember anything that had happened. It was short-lived bliss, however, because when he did remember, it made things really complicated. He had always thought that Isobel was out of his league, but now he was married. He decided they needed to keep it a secret. Isobel couldn't stand it, she was in love with him and took every private moment they had to remind him of that. Soon George was forced to face the inevitable-he had to choose. He chose Isobel and finally told Callie so they could be together. Obviously this makes for an interesting office environment as Callie is taking jabs wherever she can. Who can blame her. After trying to make it work with Isobel, they realized that the physical attraction was seriously lacking between them. That one great (drunken) night, appears to be it for them. Then George's mother came in to Seattle Grace desperately trying to get the married couple back together, but she is unsuccessful. Now George is trying to make it as an intern - trying to find the balance between being friends with the residents (who are now his bosses) and be friends with the new interns (who are his colleagues). It's hard to always try to please two sides all the time, but George somehow always in that spot. He has even more to think about when Lexie Grey snoops into all the resident files to reveal that he only failed his resident exam by 1 point! He can't take it, he confronts Chief, he knows he's better than this, and Chief agrees to let him retake the test.
