Who is Erica Hahn? This is the question. She's got quite a reputation as being a top Cardio Doctor. The easy choice to replace Preston Burke (after he left Cristina Yang at the alter and decided to quit). We don't know much about her, though. She's tough on the residents, especially Cristina Yang. Although Mark Sloan has tried numerous times, he has had no success in actually getting her to date him. I'd be hard-pressed to imagine her as a love interest of anyone on the show so far. She's doing a pretty good job of staying out of the drama in the hospital, but gets along really well with Callie Torres. Questions have been flying as to whether these two are more that just friends. Things get even hotter when Erica leans over and kisses Callie in the elevator to "taunt" Mark Sloan about having a threesome. After a bad day of being told off by the Chief about Cristina, and Callie avoiding her, she's struggling with her keys and Callie comes up and kisses her. I guess more is in store for this couple after all.

As season 5 opens, Erica is not quite sure what to make of Callie and is doing her best to avoid her. When Callie finally confronts her, she admits she's had a hard time accepting this and is even going to therapy. When she realizes that it is Callie's first time, too, she is a little more at ease and the two decide to be "virgins" together in this. Erica turns out to be much more on board with this than she ever thought. "I'm so gay."

Erica Hahn has never been one to make friends with anyone except Callie. Her rough exterior leaves much to be desired and her negative attitude is really getting to the staff, including Miranda Bailey. Erica soon finds herself in an ethical dilemma at Seattle Grace. As it turns out, the heart that Izzie "stole" for Denny Duquette would have gone to Erica's patient of several years. When Erica finds out from Callie what happened last year, she is furious. She goes to Chief Webber to tell him that more needs to be done and that someone should be fired over this, but the Chief stands his ground on the decision he made. Erica turns to Callie to have someone on her side and finds that Callie, too, is on the hospital's side. Feeling as if Izzie is more important than she is, Erica is very upset with Callie. She soon makes the connection - Callie isn't really a lesbian. Feeling betrayed by all, she leaves and is never heard from again.
