About Denny Duquette

Denny Duquette was just another patient at Seattle Grace until he caught the eye of Isobel Stevens.  Though she was casually sleeping with Alex Karev at the time, she couldn't help but notice this handsome and witty man.  Isobel found herself talking with Denny more and more and becoming increasingly attached to his case.  He desperately needed a new heart, he wold surely die without one and probably die even with a new one.

Her fondness for him grew until she was very in love with him.  She snuck around with only her fellow interns knowing about their relationship.  They covered for her while she sat in his room and kissed and cuddled.  She stayed late nights just to be in the room with him.  He even started to get better for a litte while, but he still needed a heart.  Denny loved her immensely and finally asked her to be his wife.  She accepted, but with him needing a heart so badly she was starting to get very worried that their love could never be.  In a desperate attempt to get Denny's name higher on an impossibly long list of people needing heart transplants, Izzie took matters into her own hands.  A heart came available that matched Denny's criteria and she decided to cut his L-VAD wire, knowing that it would put him in a terminal state and he'd get the heart.  It worked and Denny got his new heart, things looked like they were going to be okay and her superiors were none the wiser.  The hospital was having a special prom night for one teen patient unable to attend her own prom.  They all got dressed up and ready to go.  Izzie promised to show Denny her dress.  She excitedly went to see him and when she reached his room, something terrible had happened.  Denny's new heart had failed him and Izzie was there to see it.  Try as they might, they could not revive him.  Izzie could do nothing, but lie with him in her prom dress sobbing over his dead body.

The truth was out.  Miranda Bailey and Richard Webber were brought up to speed on the whole situation.  Something had to be done about it.  Isobel was given a vacation and was removed from her priveledges at Seattle Grace.  She was not allowed to set foot in those doors.  It didn't matter, though.  Izzie was so crushed, all she could do was lie on the floor at Meredith's home and cry.  It was ages before she began eating and talking to anyone.   It was tragic and tore Izzie to pieces. To make matters more complicated, Denny was quite wealthy and left her a large sum of money which she had no idea what to do with.  Eventually, as she got better, she was allowed back at Seattle Grace on a probationary basis.  She was not allowed to be with patients unsupervised until she could prove to the Cheif that she was ready and would never get attached to a patient like that again.  In the process of returning and learning to be a surgeon again, she saw an opportunity that offered her a solution of what to do with the money Denny left her. She donated it to the hospital to fund a clinic for Miranda Bailey, who really wanted it to happen. The clinic was named the Denny Duquette Memorial Clinic after him.

It seemed Isobel was adjusting back to life without him.  She moved forward and found herself once again in the arms of Alex Karev.  All was well until a heart patient came into the hospital - the patient who was supposed to get the heart that Izzie stole for Denny.  It was too much for her.  She began to see Denny.  See him watching her in everything she did.  In time, Denny began to talk to her, follow her around and plead with her to touch him.  She knew it was madness- only crazy people talked to ghosts.  Try as she might, she couldn't shake him and she could no longer ignore him either.  She reached out to him, touched him and magically he was real to her again.

About Major Owen Hunt

greys anatomy army major hunt

Out of the ambulance pops this new Mc-someone.  Major Hunt, who got involved when three men crashed in a limo, dives in and starts to work on the men at the scene of the accident.  He appears at Seattle Grace in the back of an ambulance and the doctors who receive him soon learn that he has stuck a pen in a man's windpipe as a temporary tracheotomy.  The shock is clearly on their faces as they have no idea what they are getting into.  Cristina Yang, who is there to receive them, can't help but utter the word, "hot!" as he passes by.  This man walks into Seattle Grace ordering the doctors around and telling them what they should do with "his" patients.  Evidently the major works in the field on emergency surgeries for the military.  He's done surgeries under very dire conditions and is very good at what he does.  He further impresses Cristina when he staples his own leg together without any anasthesia.  When Cristina is impaled by an icicle, he comes to her rescue.  The two obviously have chemistry and before he leaves he turns down the blind and kisses Cristina.  She couldn't be more turned on by this mystery man.

After thinking she'll never see him again, Cristina finds Dr. Owen Hunt in her hospital once again.  He has been discharged from his service in the military and was forced to find other work.  He pretends to not remember her at first, but admits that he's trying to turn over a new leaf.  He's starting over in the real world after his service in the military.  The only problem is that this whole life being in a hospital is so different, he's having trouble fitting in.  Derek Shepard and Mark Sloan are really hard on him - thinking his ways are wrong and he doesn't know how to handle himself.   It's so strange to him that everyone is dragging their personal lives in with them to work everyday, and inappropriate.  His patient says to him, “I took a turn.  I lost.  I couldn’t connect.  My life, it just took a turn and I couldn’t turn back.”   Hunt knows this is how his life is going.  He is struggling and he's afraid to reach out to Cristina, knowing that he is her superior at work.

About Nurse Rose

nurse rose greys anatomy

When Derek Shepard and Meredith Grey broke up, he started dating again, but no one really thought he'd be happy with anyone else. Until Rose showed up. When they get together, she has evidently worked with him on 36 of his surgeries when he finally noticed her. She seems to be everything he's looking for in a woman. They are taking things slow and didn't sleep with each other right away. She's completely in love with him. Derek seems to like her okay, too, but when they finally sleep together, he admits that he thought about Meredith the entire time. Things are a little rocky for Derek and Rose the day after, but he tells her he wants things to be fun and light.  She stays with him, but more and more, she realizes that Derek and Meredith are inevitably in love still.  Eventually Derek realizes this, too and breaks up with Rose to be with Meredith.  Though Rose takes it well at first, she starts to show some hostility towards Derek in the O.R.  Derek realizes they must break up "professionally."  Rose fights it and tells Derek she isn't going anywhere, but when her hothead leads to cutting Derek's hand in the middle of surgery, she realizes she can't afford to make mistakes like that (she handed the scalpel the wrong way).  She leaves to work in neonatal surgery.

About Thatcher Grey

thatcher grey

Thatcher Grey is the father of both Meredith and Lexie Grey. When Meredith's mother had an affair with Richard Webber, Chief of Surgery, her father left them. I think Meredith was 6 when he left. He left them and started a new family with a new wife. That' s where Lexie comes in. After Meredith's mother dies, Thatcher's new wife tries really hard to mend the relationship between the father-daughter. Things start out well, but when step-mom comes into the E.R. with hiccups, everything goes very badly. Meredith recommends a simple surgery to correct the problem and there are complications leading to her death. Thatcher can't forgive Meredith for that and is a lousy alchoholic to boot. Lexie can't live with him after it all. It's too hard to live with him while he's drinking and that's why she moved out of the house. Not a regular on the show, he's made many appearances to change things up over the last two seasons.
